[unpaid/ad/sample/affiliate] I did a quick (2 minutes!) IGTV video last week that turned out to resonate strongly with lots of people who are just like me and come and go on letting greys show. My friend Genevieve found an app that lets you see what your hair looks like grey and to be honest, I really liked it! Anyway, the video (HERE) was showing just how ridiculously quick and easy using a root touch up spray is and having tried many, I always come back to Rita Hazan which is more expensive but doesn’t feel waxy like others can.
I mean, it literally is as simple as pointing the fine nozzle at your parting where greys tend to show more and pressing down on it, a couple of inches away from your head to allow for the spray to land evenly. There’s really not any more to say than that!
I find the crayons easier for those side bits close to the ears – you can pull the hair slightly away from your head and directly colour the strands rather than scribble on your skin. Again, not oily or greasy and will last from wash to wash. I wash my hair two or three times a week and only need one application after each rather than having to do daily top ups which I definitely couldn’t be bothered with. I know I’ve written about Rita Hazan before but I’ve yet to find better even though it’s the most expensive one at £20. All root covers aren’t equal and given that these last for nearly ever it’s something I’m prepared to make a spend on. I discovered Rita long before her products were available in the UK on a trip to New York which was about a decade ago and I have no idea why I was concerned about greys back then because I hardly had any!
Anyway, the video is HERE if you want to see it working and in any case, please do feel free to follow – the more the merrier. It’s interesting because I think older women have more of a struggle in the Instagram beauty arena because of pervasive attitudes that you have to look like Kim K to be worthy of the likes but I get a lot of great comments on there these days which makes me think that numbers are increasing and it is becoming as much a place for us as anyone. Also, I don’t use ring lights and you can almost always see the bread bin in the background – they’re totally spontaneous and I do nothing fancy at all (not even hiding the bread bin!).
