[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Definitely off season but absolutely none the worse for it – this scented candle from Matthew Williamson is warm and earthy, shot through with sunshine notes such as bergamot and lemon. It’s fully scented my kitchen and dining room within the hour and coming in through the front door, it’s the first thing I can smell. We have painters and decorators in at the moment and it’s testament to the throw of this candle that the first thing I didn’t smell was paint!
There are no grassy notes in this that I can see but I get a kind of warm lawn feel from it. It has tea which gives its own kind of ground note but rose and orange blossom provide the warming floral accent. Serge de Oliveira, who has worked with several fragrance brands including Chloe but mainly niche names, is the creator for this candle’s aromatic quality. The smell of warm gardens turns out to be a beautiful December accompaniment and preferable some days to cinnamon, pine or clementines :-). It’s made me want to try more Matthew Williamson candles – I have a vague recollection of him designing for Debenhams and it just put me off a bit – not because I have any problems with Debenhams (as was) but because I always had him in my mind as niche and luxury rather than high street. I think he is into interiors now, so these candles seem more representative of who he is now which would explain the vibrancy of the glass.
